FlySys Duo device use and safety terms

Intended use and limitations

FlySys Duo is a supplementary variometer for recreational flying activities described in its product documentation. Use it only within the documented operating conditions and intended use. Do not treat it as an emergency locator, collision-avoidance system, terrain-warning system, weather forecast or certified primary flight instrument unless the relevant function and certification have been expressly documented.

Paragliding and other flying activities require appropriate training, competence and judgment. The pilot decides whether conditions, equipment and their own capabilities permit a flight and remains responsible for navigation, separation and applicable aviation rules. A reading or tone from Duo does not establish that a manoeuvre, route or altitude is safe. Nothing here releases the manufacturer from its legal responsibility for a defective product.

Before flight

Read the current instructions. Inspect the housing, attachment, charging connector and battery condition. Secure the device so it cannot detach, obstruct controls or create an entanglement hazard. Do not attach it to a load-bearing or safety-critical part of the flying equipment in a way that alters that equipment's operation.

Check the battery, reference altitude, intended sound profile and volume. Verify sensor response and any required connection. Do not assume a connection icon proves that every displayed value is current. Keep pressure openings unobstructed and follow placement instructions; clothing, water and airflow can affect measurements. Plan for loss of power, sound or data without depending on the device for safe recovery.

Pairing, calibration, test tones and firmware updates should be completed on the ground in a safe location. Keep the device still when the calibration procedure requires it. Recheck settings after an update or reset. Never interrupt a firmware installation except as directed by the recovery procedure.

During operation

Measurements can be inaccurate, delayed or unavailable because of environmental conditions, pressure reference, sensor limitations, calibration, radio interference, battery state or software/phone behaviour. Barometric and GPS altitude do not establish guaranteed clearance from terrain or controlled airspace. Audible output may not be heard or may be disabled. Battery indicators and autonomy estimates cannot guarantee remaining operating time.

If a reading is inconsistent with conditions or other information, do not rely on it to justify a manoeuvre. Maintain control of the aircraft and use your training and independent information. Avoid changing settings or operating a phone/computer in a way that distracts from flight. Where the manual prescribes a particular recovery action, follow it when safe.

Battery, charging and environment

Use a suitable USB power source and cable meeting the electrical requirements in the supplied manual. Charge only within the specified environmental limits, in a dry location with ventilation and away from combustible materials. Do not charge a wet, damaged, unusually hot, swollen or leaking device. Disconnect it when safe and contact support. Do not puncture, crush, short-circuit, burn or expose the battery to excessive heat.

Do not assume the device is waterproof or suitable for immersion; only the published and verified ingress rating, if any, applies. Follow the operating limits supplied with your device. Charge only between +10 and +40 °C, allowing the whole device to reach this temperature range before connecting USB. This charging instruction applies even if the device can operate on battery power at a lower temperature. Do not rely on an automatic temperature cut-off to make charging outside this range safe.

For extended storage, keep the device in a cool, dry indoor location, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, with approximately 40–60% battery charge. Check it periodically and avoid leaving the battery fully discharged for long periods.

After bringing the device in from the cold, allow it to reach a suitable charging temperature and any condensation to dry before charging. Avoid direct sun and hot parked vehicles. A USB connection may initiate charging, including from a power bank; do not assume cold-weather operation means cold-weather charging is safe.

Battery replacement and internal service must follow the model-specific safe service procedure. Do not perform improvised battery repairs. Follow applicable battery transport and electronic-waste collection rules. For a damaged battery, obtain safe return instructions before shipment.

Modifications, compatibility and support

Use compatible accessories, firmware and software. Unsupported modifications can affect operation and regulatory conformity. This warning does not automatically invalidate every guarantee claim or prohibit lawful repair or third-party integration. Any refusal of a statutory claim must be legally justified and related to the relevant circumstances.

Report faults, overheating, battery damage or safety incidents to info@flysys.eu. Stop using a device affected by a safety warning and follow applicable recall instructions. Retain the product identifier needed to locate safety notices. Do not dispose of a device in household waste when separate electronic/battery collection is required.

Rights and responsibility

The seller's conformity obligations and applicable manufacturer guarantees remain in force. There is no blanket waiver of claims for injury, defects or unsafe design. The application terms govern software use; they do not reduce ownership rights in the physical device. These conditions do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable product liability, intentional misconduct and gross negligence.
